Thousands of young people around the country have become Active Leaders and Junior Active Leaders since we started in 2016. Our first group of participants aged 15-17 came up with the phrase ‘Leadership and Employability through Activity’ which has remained our strapline. We have adapted our original course for older students including for further education and recruitment programmes, going virtual in 2020 to continue through the pandemic. We are especially proud to have been one of the legacy programmes for the UEFA Women’s Euros 2022 and continue to support the Women’s FA to train young women as Active Leaders to support the grassroots workforce of the girls’ game.

Our Junior Active Leader course for 9-11+ year olds is a vital tool in building confidence and developing personal leadership skills, promoting the benefits of activity from a young age.

We have tracked the progress of some of the Active Leaders we trained on our early courses and their amazing stories appear on our testimonials page, together with comments from teachers, parents and funding partners. Active Leaders is now a nationally certified CPD scheme, accredited by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

We support young people’s individual development with relevant, useful, quality training and experience, using fun, physical activity as the core theme. We are practical, flexible and adaptable so that everyone has the chance to join in. We even created and rolled out a version of our course for 9-13 year olds using active music as a core theme called JAMMERS!

I am fortunate to work with a passionate, energetic team who have been instrumental in developing and delivering all our work.
